The Project is untitled „Healthy Dose of Social Media“. The idea came from daily life, when we observed our own children and students at school.Its not doubt that Social Media has become an essential part of most people’s everyday lives, from checking Facebook and Twitter to posting blogs, Pinterest listings, and uploading YouTube videos.

Aspiration of our project team is to find the ways where Social Media networks can be leveraged to engage and build a foundation for future student learning.

The main aim of teaching staff is to develope the right Social Media teaching strategies which can lead to creative learning, and a productive approach to making Social Media as a part of ongoing personal and professional development.

Our aim is to create our students’ opportunity to view Social Media as something that is not going away, and it should be used productively, rather than devalued in schools. Doing so can mean that students moving into the workplace know how to use Social Media as an important tool. Thanks to developing all project activities our students will gain the key for competences for a successful life such as problems solving, reflection, creativity, critical thinking, learning to learn, risk-taking, collaboration, and entrepreneurship. Also they will improve their English and ICT skills.

We are team of 5 countries with the similar experience connecting with project topic and who have been working together at the same subject which interests all participants – active methods, ICT and social skills, Social Media as a tool during the lessons. But above all we want to share our innovative teaching approaches.

The project team consist of teachers are well-qualified and skilled enough. They can be called innovative and willing to experiment on new ideas, methods and approaches. They participated in various European Project and seminars about the new learning methods, activities and also they took part in Comenius projects as a team members. More than half of key persons are well-qualified and skilled on ICT.

Students target group are from 9 to 15 years old and was selected on the basis of that children and youth are one of the biggest media consumer group in the society. The current project is aiming to enhance the quality of media education offered for this target group. 60 students from 5 participated schools will attend in the mobilities of students. These youth are communicative, cooperative, social, enthusiastic, creative, able to work in team and assume the leadership role. In addition to good social and personal skills they have good English and ICT knowledges. So 100 participants will actively participate in the project. However, this team will involve the whole school community from their countries to participate actively in this project (at least 8,000 people).

All partners are important and will give something special to the project. Germany partner role as a coordinating school within the project will be a supportive role but also providing specialism for the whole project group. The coordinating school will bring new innovative pedagogical teaching materials which will be shared with all partners. Portugal partner will bring the new advanced ICT technology and they share their knowledges with others. They will help in designing website and all materials. The school has a good command of computer and participate in some training. Lithuanian school are willing to bring new ideas and create new teaching materials by using social games and active learning methods in class. They are willing to use their knowledges and ICT experience in teaching and share that with partners. Greece school wants to show our students that the wold is open to new opportunities and they can explore this world by the use of the Internet as a main channel of communication. Poland school will bring their enthusiasm and the innovative ideas. It will allow a multifaceted development of the programme. They are willing to help for other partners to organize and moderate students activities during all students meetings. Our international team will share good practice which will be essential to create high quality projects’ activities and results. The main are:

  • IMPACT-Students: improved their basic, English, ICT skills.

Project realization will lead to raise of schools status as a learning institution and gained knowledges will enable to apply for new European projects in the future.
